Just a quick roundup of recent Carly news:

  • Carly quietly bowed out of her job writing the music for the new movie "Primary Colors," a lightly-fictionalized Clinton campaign expose starring John Travolta and Emma Thompson. She was replaced by Ry Cooder. Apparently it was an amicable decision all around.
  • Carly Attended the Grammys last week escorted by son Ben. Carly didn't win her category, but ex-hubby JT's "Hourglass" won two. JT is touring Europe and didn't attend.

Carly will be on CNN's "Showbiz Today" on Monday, February 9 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern.

"Primary Colors"
Carly is doing the musical score for the movie adaptation of the very controversial lightly-fictionalized Clinton campaign biography, "Primary Colors." It stars John Travolta and Emma Thompson and will be released in March. The soundtrack should be released around the same time.

Carly on "Prime Time Country"
Carly and Jimmy Webb will be featured on a February 12 episode of "Prime Time Country" on The Nashville Network (TNN). It airs at 6 p.m. Pacific, but check local listings for other time zones. Thanks to MudSlideSlim for the tip.

Carly On "The View"
Carly will appear on ABC's "The View" Thursday, February 5. The show airs at 10 a.m. here in Los Angeles, but has widely varying air times in the rest of the country. Check your local listings. Thanks to Mary "Leelee" Butler for the tip.

"Intimate Portrait"
Cable channel Lifetime will air the Carly episode of "Intimate Portrait" today, January 27 at 7 p.m. Eastern. Sorry about the late notice.

Carly and the Grammys
Carly has been nominated for "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance" for her latest Arista release, "Film Noir." She's up against Julie Andrews, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney and Bernadette Peters. The winners will be announced on Febrauary 25 at the 40th annual telecast this year from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. For more details see the official Grammy site.

In addition to Carly's nomination, "Film Noir" is also nominated in the category for "Instrumental Arrangement with Accompanying Vocals" for "Laura." Arif Mardin is the arranger with Carly providing the vocals.

Carly has been in the winner's circle before at the Grammy Awards. She won for Best New Artist in 1971 and in 1978 Carly's "Boys In the Trees" album won for best album package. She won another Grammy in 1989 for "Let the River Run," which also won an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

No word yet if Carly plans to attend or perform.
